With 25 years’ experience in the industry Tom was most recently employed as acting director for Lightwaves Ltd. During his tenure there he delivered countless projects, acting as head designer and overseeing supply, installation and commissioning.

Sanford Lighting Design is the lighting design consultancy established in 2020 by Tom Johnson, specialising in the design, specification, installation and commissioning of lighting systems for galleries and museums and well as set up and final focussing for displays and exhibitions in institutions across the UK and abroad.

Over the years Tom has established ongoing working relationships with many artists and institutions, working closely with curators, exhibition designers and managers to realise the artists’ creative visions and provide the clients with highly finessed bespoke lighting solutions, giving Sanford Lighting Design unparalleled access and insight into this field of design, and placing the company squarely at the forefront of the industry.
